Out with the old and in with the new, Coast NZ shifted the old railway house off this site, before building a new quality modern home. This two storey beach house was deliberately elevated and large windows were used to capture the best view possible. The Coast NZ team worked on bespoke pieces using recycled rimu to create the entire floor of the upper level, a rimu beam and hanging planter above the kitchen bench, a one of a kind staircase balustrade, ensuite and powder room vanities and even rimu shelving in the cupboards. We created an innovative design for the open plan raking ceilings to be clad in plywood with a negative detail. Cedar cladding was selected to blend this house into the natural beach landscape as well as white painted brick for a fresh touch. Huge pieces of tinted joinery with shutters add light as well as the views to make this home spacious and open.
